A heartwarming video showing the rescue of disabled pets has led to a dramatic rise in adoptions across the country. The clip, shared online last week by the nonprofit group Paws for Hope, features staff caring for animals with mobility issues, blindness, or chronic illnesses. Viewers quickly rallied behind the cause, pushing the video to over 10 million views in days.

The footage highlights a three-legged dog named Buddy learning to walk with a custom cart and a blind cat named Luna navigating her foster home. Volunteers explain how each animal receives tailored care. The group’s director, Maria Chen, said the response stunned her team. “We hoped to raise awareness. We never expected this,” she noted. “Shelters nationwide are reporting record interest in pets with special needs.”

Data from the National Animal Welfare Association shows adoption inquiries for disabled pets jumped 300% in the past week. Many shelters say applications now outnumber available animals. Social media users cite the video as their motivation. One adopter, Sarah Green, drove six hours to adopt a paraplegic rabbit. “They deserve love too,” she said.

Rescue groups are scrambling to meet demand. Some have started training programs to help new owners manage pets’ unique needs. Veterinary clinics also report increased questions about mobility aids and home modifications.

Paws for Hope plans to release more educational content. They aim to keep the momentum alive. “This isn’t a trend,” Chen added. “It’s a shift in how people see these animals.”

Local shelters urge patience as they process applications. Many warn against impulsive decisions. “Adopting a pet with disabilities requires commitment,” said Tom Harris of City Animal Services. “But the rewards are huge.”

The group’s original video remains pinned to their social media pages. Donations to support disabled pets have also spiked, topping $500,000 since the clip went viral.
