Tribune Can Move Forward With Sale of Chicago Cubs

WILMINGTON, Del.–A bankruptcy judge Monday cleared the way for Tribune Co. to sell baseball’s Chicago Cubs to the family of financier Tom Ricketts in a deal valued at $845 million.

Judge Kevin Carey of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del., authorized Tribune to move toward the deal with the Ricketts family, which also will take control of Wrigley Field and Tribune’s stake in Comcast SportsNet. The Ricketts family founded online brokerage firm TD Ameritrade Holding Corp.
