Final Wrigley OK likely this week, but alderman still wants tweaks

After years of fits and starts, the Ricketts family’s push to remake Wrigley Field and the surrounding area is expected to be added to the win column this week, though the local alderman is still trying to tweak the plan.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who remains undefeated on his City Council initiatives after more than two years in office, is pushing for approval by the Zoning Committee on Tuesday and the full council on Wednesday, before aldermen take their August recess.

The $500 million, five-year plan would renovate the ballpark, put up a hotel and build an office-retail complex and plaza. Baseball fans would see a host of new signage at Wrigley, including a 5,700-square-foot video board in left field.
