Cubs official denies bullpen move to bleachers delayed

Cubs spokesman Julian Green denied a Tribune report attributed to multiple sources that the ballclub will delay moving the Wrigley Field bullpens from the field to underneath the bleachers until 2018.

The move is part of the Wrigley renovation plan and is scheduled to be in place next year, Green said, with new seats added in the area where the bullpens currently exist.

Some Cubs players and staff aren’t enamored with the idea, and sources had said the business operations department decided to delay the switch.

Cubs starter Jake Arrieta said warming up before a game in the elements “simulates the game feel” and would be happy for a temporary reprieve.
