Cubs are giving away a part of Wrigley Field – for free

As the Cubs get set to begin Phase II of the Wrigley Field renovation, they are handing a way a piece of the iconic stadium.

For free.

As WGN TV points out, most of the outfield grass is being replaced and the Cubs are leaving the old sod right outside the stadium for fans to pick up.

The sod will reportedly be piled up outside the right field bleachers on Sheffield St. just north of Addison.

Over Monday and Tuesday, fans are permitted to grab the grass on a first-come, first-serve basis.
