The Chicago Cubs and City of Chicago are closer to reaching a deal after 11th hour negotiations — but one issue is holding it up: rooftop concerns.
Sources close to the negotiations say they have reached a blueprint for the renovations, but the sticking points remain Wrigley Field advertising and a jumbotron that some rooftop owners say could block their views.
According to the sources, Ald. Tom Tunney removed a request for a parking garage on Grace Street from the table that the Cubs had already agreed to last week. Tunney said Wrigleyville neighbors objected to the garage because of congestion concerns.
