Old Style beer crusades to stay at Wrigley Field

One week after the Chicago Cubs made Budweiser the “exclusive” official beer of Wrigley Field through a new marketing deal with Anheuser-Busch InBev, Old Style is fighting to preserve its long-standing presence at the Friendly Confines.

Los Angeles-based Pabst Brewing Co., which owns the Old Style beer brand, has mounted a grass-roots campaign to push the team and Levy Restaurants, which holds the concessions contract at the North Side ballpark, to continue serving the label at Wrigley, where it has been a mainstay since 1950.

The new marketing deal gives A-B heavy sway when it’s determined what beers are sloshing around in the vendors’ trays. Old Style wants to make sure it’s not kicked out of the stands completely.
