The new group space just beyond the left field wall at Wrigley Field officially has been dubbed the Hornitos Hacienda under a new Chicago Cubs sponsorship deal with the Mexican tequila brand.
In a deal that makes Hornitos the new official tequila of the team, the brand will have signage around the ballpark and in the left field area that the Cubs had called the “left field well.”
The space was one of several new amenities the team built into its redesigned bleachers and includes space for 15 to 50 guests between standing room and some seating in what used to be the first two rows down the left field line.
Hornitos, which also will get airtime on the left field video board, is the first tequila brand to have an “official” sponsor status at least since the Ricketts family purchased the Cubs in 2009. Competitor brands Don Julio and Jose Cuervo had partnerships with the team from 2008 and 2014.
The Cubs have plans to sell naming rights to a bevy of new pieces they are adding to Wrigley Field under a $300 million ballpark renovation.
