The Cubs are selling 2015 and 2016 seats removed from the ballpark during the ongoing renovations. Seats will be available as two-seat sets and will be authenticated with Major League Baseball’s seal of authenticity.
These seats were removed from several sections including the terrace reserved, terrace box and field box, and feature two ballpark riser-mounted seats attached to L-shaped metal brackets.
The seats removed in the 2015 offseason cost $799, and a smaller quantity of seat sets removed in the 2016 offseason cost $899. Shipping is $132.99 per seat set. You cannot pick up the seats from the ballpark.
Season-ticket holders can buy the seats through their accounts, according to the Cubs. The sale opens to the general public on Friday.
The seats, which weigh approximately 94 pounds, also come with a warning: “Even after securely attaching the ‘L’ shaped brackets that are provided to you, the seats could collapse or tip over, which could cause serious bodily injury, including, but not limited to, head, neck and back injury,” the Cubs say on their website.
The Cubs recommend that buyers contact “a qualified flooring professional” to install the seats.
