MESA, Ariz. — The Cubs’ 2010 media guide features Derrek Lee, Carlos Zambrano and Ryan Dempster on the cover, superimposed over a photo of the vista of Wrigley Field.
But closer inspection of the vista reveals that something is missing: the Horseshoe Casino ad on the rooftop of an apartment building on Waveland Avenue. The building is blocked out by a baseball being gripped by Zambrano.
Not so coincidentally, the Cubs are considering placing advertising in the left-field bleachers that would obscure the Horseshoe Casino ad in televised shots from behind home plate. The Cubs don’t receive any of the revenues from the ad, which goes to the owner of the building.
