Tearing down to build up
Wrigley
At 91, Wrigley Field is getting
a makeover, and it began this week with partial demolition
of the bleacher seats. When it's done, the $30 million to
$50 million renovation project will include the expansion
of the bleachers by 1,790 seats, construction of a restaurant
and parking garage adjacent to the stadium and turning the
street in between into a Fenway Park-style pedestrian promenade
with shops and restaurants. The new bleacher seats should
be ready for opening day 2006.
